Valeo: making future mobility a reality today

Vehicles that can park themselves, be unlocked with digital keys and understand how you feel: this vision of the future already exists today thanks to Valeo’s innovative solutions.

Smart city

A car that uses its superpowers to see what’s ahead of the car in front? Not science fiction but a reality, thanks to Valeo XtraVue.

Whether it’s connected and autonomous vehicles, digital mobility, or electrification: Valeo, inventor of the ground-breaking Stop-Start technology, always endeavors to be ahead of the game by anticipating the trends that will define the sector in the future, like the mild hybrid, low voltage engine (48V) it unveiled at Auto China 2018.

Last year, innovative products that didn’t even exist three years ago accounted for 50% of the group’s order intake. Valeo is also currently developing the ‘eyes and ears’ of autonomous vehicles so that they can park themselves (Cyber Valet Services, Valeo Park4UTM), look after you (Personalized comfort with heating, A/C, fragrance and lighting to suit your mood), or even think for themselves (‘Onboard intelligence’).

After creating, the first global research center specializing in AI and deep learning for automotive, this year, Valeo proudly presented Drive4U.aiTM, its futuristic autonomous demo car, in a world première at the 2018 Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Fitted with cameras providing an all-round 3D view, this AI-based system identifies the shape, size, orientation and direction of motion of all the objects surrounding a vehicle, in order to analyze its immediate environment and make fast decisions, mimicking the way the human brain processes information.

Valeo’s ultimate vision? A car that ‘knows’ you. Now possible with Valeo My Mobius, its human-machine interface that learns about drivers’ habits to anticipate their needs and suggest routes and personalized services.

Last year, Valeo spent close to 1.9 billion euros on Research and Development (12% of original equipment sales) and filed more than 2,000 patent applications. Valeo invests heavily in innovative technologies with one goal in mind: shaping mobility today to make it ‘smart’ – and enhance the driver’s experience.
